| Franlon™
Franlon™ is a family of thermoplastic materials
offered by France Compressor Products. This family
includes Torlon®, Vespel®, Nylon, PEI
and other polymer base materials with fillers
selected to enhance their performance when used
for seal rings and valve discs in reciprocating
compressors.
Thermoplastic sealing rings provide increased
mechanical strength over other non-metallic materials
at higher operating temperatures with reduction
of wear and other damage if gas is contaminated
with foreign material or liquid carryover during
system upsets.
Compared to metal valve discs, a thermoplastic
disc is lighter, has inherent dampening, and if
failure occurs, will cause little or no damage
to other components.
